Minnehaha No. 5 Grand Lodge Of South Dakota, A.F. & A.M. |
| If you have ever been interested in what Solomon's Guard does, then here is your chance to find out by volunteering for the holidays where it all began. Our Brothers and friends in the Jewish community are requesting that 2-4 of our Brothers be at the Synagogue over the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (the holiest time on the Jewish calendar, which centers on atonement and repentance). As you may or may not know, around 350,000 Masons were killed in the death camps during WWII simply for being Masons. Performing this small act is a great way to show that we care about our Sioux Falls community and pay honor to those Brother Masons who lost their lives. This is an easy duty; all you do is show up, greet people as they come into the Synagogue, and then remain outside and make sure things stay quiet so those inside can worship in peace. It is also a good time to catch up with your Brothers. If there is a meal, you will likely be invited in to enjoy some fellowship. Bring a chair if you would like to make things more comfortable. If the weather is an issue, we are always invited to stand inside the door and keep watch from there. There are at least three Brothers from our Lodge and one from Trinity who attend services there, along with one person who has petitioned and one who will likely come back to our Lodge. Here are the shifts we need covered (please contact Brian Pulling barrister1965@gmail.com or Anthony Neuroth anthonyneuroth16@gmail.com with when you can help): Rosh Hashanah Monday, September 22 - 7pm to around 9pm Tuesday, September 23 - 9:30am to around Noon Bagels and Memories Service Sunday, September 28 - Noon to around 2pm Yom Kippur Wednesday, October 1 - 7pm to around 9pm Thursday, October 2 - 9:30am to around Noon Thursday, October 2 - 1:30pm to around 3:30pm Thursday, October 2 - 3:30pm to around 5:50pm Thursday, October 2 - 5:30pm to around 7:30pm Thank you Brothers!! |
